Champagne cellar visit with children — Le Clos Corbier
Visiting a cellar in Champagne with your children: it is possible, and it is planned
A lot of families are hesitant. They imagine a cellar visit reserved for adults, too technical, not suitable for the youngest. At Le Clos Corbier, it's the other way around.
Children are welcome in our visits and workshops. They participate fully.
Right from the start in the cellars, the children are given a series of observation questions. What do they see? How many bottles does a Champagne pupitre hold? What is the temperature? Why are the bottles lying down?
The guide is aimed at them directly, at their level. The questions are naturally linked to what the group discovers during the Cellar Visit.
After the visit, the whole group goes to the Tasting Workshop. Children participate in the aroma workshop — identify scents, put into words what they perceive, compare their impressions with those of adults.
It is often one of the most lively moments of the session. Children have remarkable olfactory acuity, and they rarely know it. We like to train them to discover it so that they arouse their curiosity about scents from an early age.
They then receive their own glass of cocktail made from syrups and fruit juices, and participate in the same exercise as adults: identify the color, the nose, the aromas, try to guess what is in it. Without clues and like the big guys!
For families who wish to stay, our Champagne lunch takes over directly after the workshop. The menu is adapted for children. Local products, homemade cuisine, estate setting, the table naturally extends the spirit of the visit.
Our tours are for children aged 5 and up. They take place in Mareuil-sur-Ay, 10 minutes from Épernay, and last about 1.5 hours.
